“I’m Going Through Changes” said Turpial

Turpial has something to say to you all:

"I'm Going Through Changes, eh eh"
[Eminem on "Going Through Changes" from his album Recovery]

That’s right everybody, the Bird‘s going to take a new direction back to its roots, back to where it all began, so i guess it isn’t quite a new direction after all.

Have you ever gone to the gym and tried out every single trasformer machine they got there in the hopes of getting the exercise you need to build your muscles properly? Yeah, me neither And then figured out that what you continue to do in that spensive gym is jog, run and weights? All of which you actually were pretty much doing all by yourself, effortlessly,  cheap AND you were getting results! The chicks were staring at you, when you went for morning/afternoon/night jogs and workouts in the park, instead of going to that four-walled torture chamber they so call gymnasium.

Well, something like that happened to the Bird guys, we started heading to a path with great hopes of achieving new ways to port, use and implement Turpial in it’s newest forms but then it came to our attention that we’ve been over working ourselves for no reason, and that everything we’ve come to so far was resulting on too much power useage and not enought lightness and fastness from our beloved Turpial.

So we had to make a choice, an adjustment to benefit you and The Bird in the way it was first planed: Light, Fast and Native. That’s why, we have decided to drop Webkit development to focus on Qt, Python and Gtk3. This was the way things worked back in 2009-’10 and it’s time we go back to our roots, back to where it all started. These adjustment will take a bit of time to come out to the public, but we are hard working on it to make it the best solutions for you, Twitter, Identi.ca and for all our development team.

Thanks for being with us through all of our story and for allowing us to grow with you. Remember, we are all always

"Going through changes..."

From Turpial 2.0 Beta to Turpial 3.0

Aloha everyone, today we bring very exciting news. As posted two days ago, Turpial 2.0 Alpha is ready to be tested but that comes with and even bigger consecuence to us all.

If you’re a part of our newsletter, you are in the know of all that’s about to come down with The Bird in the coming times. But if you’re living under a virtual rock here’s the short story:

Turpial 2.0 was destined to achieve great things, things SO great indeed that our tools became obsolete. At first we were a bit worried about this but then we saw the oportunity the was hiding right under our noses.

The development of Turpial 2.0 is starting to become the stepping stone for something even greater: Turpial 3.0

As our underpaid programers coded for this wonderful release, they realized that 2.0 was going to need some changes and decitions had to be made to make sure you got the best of the best Turpial expirience. This meant only one thing: we need your feedback in order to continue giving you what you love from The Bird.

Turpial 2.0 Beta we’ll be out soon just as it is so you can make all the complains, praises (we like been praise) and suggestions you want so the migration to the new and improve Turpial 3.0 becomes everything you want it to be and then some.

Once more, we’d like to thank you for your support and presence throught out this proyect. Be aware, the future, is here.

Turpial gets Interviewed by Madre Lengua

Last nigth, I had the most amizing privilage in my time working with Trupial so far. As an on going effort to show new tecnologies and Venezuelan talent to our country, La Mega 99.7: “Donde Sea” radio station and it’s show Madre Lengua featured Turpial through a phone interview that was a completly new expirience for me.

The hosts, Nelson Barroso and Coka Meléndez, are a pair of fun and spanish enthusiasts that make every minute in the show feel like home with an upbeat and very relaxed way of presenting themselves. It was a geniuine pleasure for me to be among friends that love Venezuela and their people in such an obvious fashion.

The topic of the night was our beloved bird and all the features we have come to know and love, all the work that’s been done from every corner of the world to make this project what it is today: a Twitter and identi.ca client that is not only light and easy to use but also reliable and functional.

Our thanks go to the whole Turpial crew working everywhere for making the bird go places we never thought it would and that’s only thanks to the comunity that’s received us with open arms and this interview goes out to you all as a testimony to your support. Also we’d like to thanks Madre Lengua for allowing us to share and hour of their time and have such fun during it. Thank you Nelson, thank you Coka and thanks to all the Crew that made this possible.

You can all listen to the Madre Lengua Radio Show Monday-Friday from 9 to 10pm, all you need to do is Click HERE… and know spanish.

Problem?

Turpial 2.0 Alpha ‘Cayapa’ this Sunday

If you’re reading this there’re only two possible explanations:

  1. You know what “Cayapa” means and want to be involved in it.
  2. You Want to know what “Cayapa” means and what does it have to do with the development of Turpial 2.0.

So, here it goes, I’ll try to be as clear as possible so that our venezuelan lingo can come across to anyone who’s never set foot in this beautyful land filled with beautiful women (Sorry guys, they’re all mine)

Cayapa: noun. & verb. [Kah-ya'll-pah] (Meh, close enough) In lame terms: The action of beating the crap out of one S.o.B. This is not done by one subject to another but is a group efford against the one until he’s pretty much left for dead. (Very invinting isn’t).

i.e: We were cayaping that MoFo for using my external HD to save his reggaeton “music” *spits on the carcas*

Now, Who wants to be a part of the beating???

How does it apply to Turpial development? you ask, fairly simple, We are the Cayapators [Terminator style] and the requirements for a good Alpha 2.0 is the MoFo whom defiled your HD: It needs to be set straight.

To better understand this term, think of it as a Bug Squash Party in Techno Language. And before you ask, NO! this word will not change and we will cayapa you if you, so much as, suggest we change it.

Thank you.

This next sunday, february 12th, Turpial development team we’ll be discusing everything related to Turpia 2.0 and its Alpha v. if you’d like to be a part of this discussion head over to:

IRC

Server: Freenode (irc.freenode.net)
Channel: #turpial

at 09.00 am VE / 10.30 am AR

(VE UTC -4:30 / AR UTC -3:00)

And join the beating…

From Develop to Stable: How to install Turpial 1.6.6

Finally, Turpial 1.6.6 is HERE with new features and more, but if you’re in Development Branch and check this blog often you realize that said branch is going to be a mess for a little while (Explaination HERE), so you might want to stay on the safe side and install the Stable Bird.

But…

“How can I do such a wonderful and complicated thing?” you’ll ask (if you are a Linux ignorant such as myself).

Well, our friend LordValor made us a huge favor setting an Easy Tutorial (it’s so simple even I can do it, no joke).

Althou it’s in spanish, if you follow the Terminal instructions starting with:

$ cd turpial/

you’re going to be just fine and have Turpial 1.6.6 running in under a minute (like my dates when the bill hits the restaurant table).

Just go to his Post: Turpial 1.6.6 is now Stable and do your thing.

Thanks, LordValor, pay his blog a visit it’s full of interesting Stuff and S#!7 … If you know spanish, that is.

"If you know spanish..."

Hello World

In the words of Prof. Farnsworth from Futurama:

Good News Everyone, Turpial is now a bilingual bird.

It’s been a long journey this past couple of months, since the last time something was said about the work been done on the bird.

We’ve been quiet silent for far too long, but the wait is over – well, not so much over over as a ‘hey dude, how’s it going? we’re working on everything. Please don’t hit me” kind of way -.

First things first, – although by this point in the post they feel more like third – I’m sure you’ve notice the lack of spanish today – oh my, you really are a bright young lad -, this doesn’t mean what you think it means, – yes, I know your thoughts – and here are the answer to your questions:

  • No, we’re not selling out to an evil corporation that will use Turpial as a tool for World Domination. That’s already in our agenda so no one will Rule the World but us.
  • No, we’re not going to stop giving support in spanish, let’s face it Turpial is Venezuelan and it’ll be venezuelan forever – evah, evah, evah -.
  • Yes, we will continue to improve Turpial in spanish, english, chineese and any other language that we find translators for. -If you’re interested go HERE and help us, THANKS!.
  • And the most important question of all:

Why?????

Why you no spanish now???????

The reason is fairly simple, really, we feel the bird is now flying on new heights everyday, going further and faster than ever before and is our most important goal to help Turpial grow at the pace it finds natural. We want to open the road for its success in everyway possible and, whether we like it or not, english is the international language of programming and it will connect us all throught out the world with the people Turpial is meant to serve, the users.

We’ve already made friends an allies all around the globe, in different languages and english has been the key to get us all together for the well being of this project loved by all. This doesn’t mean that the efforts put in the bird will cease in any way, in fact, this change has been improving the rate of work been done in these past months and they pave a bright future for Turpial.  We apologize for any inconveneince this my cause any of you, and thank you for all the love you give us on a daily basis.

In other news, a few things have change for the development branch of Turpial, although v.1.5 is stable the problem it has not showing Direct Messages (DMs) has been solved and it’s currently going the testing phase on v.1.6.5-b6 with great results. Only a couple more twicks here and there and you will be able to enjoy it too.

Thanks for all your support, and rest asure that Turpial will continue to work in every language!

Un año de “Cambur Pintón”. Turpial: Dejando Huella
