From Develop to Stable: How to install Turpial 1.6.6

Finally, Turpial 1.6.6 is HERE with new features and more, but if you’re in Development Branch and check this blog often you realize that said branch is going to be a mess for a little while (Explaination HERE), so you might want to stay on the safe side and install the Stable Bird.

But…

“How can I do such a wonderful and complicated thing?” you’ll ask (if you are a Linux ignorant such as myself).

Well, our friend LordValor made us a huge favor setting an Easy Tutorial (it’s so simple even I can do it, no joke).

Althou it’s in spanish, if you follow the Terminal instructions starting with:

$ cd turpial/

you’re going to be just fine and have Turpial 1.6.6 running in under a minute (like my dates when the bill hits the restaurant table).

Just go to his Post: Turpial 1.6.6 is now Stable and do your thing.

Thanks, LordValor, pay his blog a visit it’s full of interesting Stuff and S#!7 … If you know spanish, that is.

"If you know spanish..."

Changes in development branch

If you are a current user of development branch of Turpial, we encourage you to NOT perform any update at least for a couple of weeks.

Because of the release of the new stable version, this branch will be under heavy development and we will be doing a lot of changes that will broke up the application. However, if after this warning you still want to test current development, do it at your own risk.

To keep your Turpial working, please move to master branch and stay there until further advice.

Closer to the stable version 1.6.6

We’ve been working on what will be the next stable release (1.6.6 version) and we are every day closer. At the beginning of the past month we released the beta 6 for 1.6.5 with the last fixes to minor issues detected and at the end of October we released a new version with support for a new image uploading service (Imgur).

Today we’ve done the first release candidate for 1.6.6 and if every goes well we should have the new stable version for this weekend.

You can test the 1.6.6-rc1 from the files repository and soon we’ll have packages availables for main GNU/Linux distros

Translation: In progress

Like we said in a previous post, Turpial is growing up and as part of that growing we need to teach the bird to talk in other languages.

We are translating all the Turpial platform into english in order to more people can read us and enjoy our work. Probably, while we finish, you will see some parts in english and some other in spanish, but don’t worry, we’ll try to accomplish this as soon as possible.

Thanks for all your support
